Preparation: British Columbia and Italy
Italian food is prepared differently in British Columbia than it is in Italy, but some local Italian culture clubs still stick to traditional food preparation techniques. Typical food preparation in Italy starts with the actual gathering of food, it is common for Italians to buy their ingredients daily from local markets and use them up within that day or even the meal. Locally, in B.C. we are not so fortunate to have farmer's markets readily available all year. The location and climate of Canada and Italy determine the foods available and the kind of people living there make up the regional cuisines. In Italy, since the locals shop daily, the food does not have preservatives like Canadian food, therefor being healthier and tasting better. Italian food is traditionally served one course at a time, and local culture clubs still serve their food in this fashion.
